Join the Chamber team at the award winning McCallum Bagpipes, for the next in the series of our popular behind the scenes events.Our members have the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the Kilmarnock based factory to witness the skilled team at work. Coffee will be served on arrival, in the Ayrshire Kilt Shop of McCallum Bagpipes, followed by a factory tour, where you will see the team of highly skilled bagpipe makers at work.
Stuart McCallum and Kenny Macleod are Directors and co owners of the Kilmarnock based company McCallum Bagpipes. They are the worlds biggest and most popular bagpipe maker. Celebrating their 20th anniversary last year the company have enjoyed several notable achievements.
♦ Increasing the workforce from 3 in 1998 to 41 currently
♦ Increasing the work area twice in that time to 9000 square feet of factory space to accommodate the increase in sales and research and development into new products
♦ Providing bagpipes to the rich and famous, notably Madonna, Westlife and Ewan McGregor
♦ Hosting TV crews for documentaries and adverts, the latest being the Made in Britain series
♦ Working with Kilmarnock FC in the design and registering of the Kilmarnock Football Club tartan.
♦ Shipping bagpipes and related products to every corner of the world. McCallum Bagpipes currently export around 70-80% of their product.
♦ Now that the world is too small to contain the company they have even had their product showcased in outer space when NASA Astronaut Kjell Lindgren played Amazing Grace on a set of McCallum plastic bagpipes onboard the International Space Station.
The event will finish with a networking buffet lunch in the boardroom.
