As part of The Scottish Government ’s programme supported by Scottish Chambers of Commerce, Inverness Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce , is leading a cross-sector trade mission to Ireland from 11 to 14 November 2024.
With specific sessions taking place across the week, delegates will hear from partners in market and given the opportunity to showcase what Scotland has to offer. This mission will provide a platform to encourage collaboration and trade between Scotland and Ireland.

Cost and eligibility
This mission is open to any business with International sales of less then £7million. No upper limit on UK based sales.
A fee of £150 + VAT will be charged to businesses that wish to join and includes all programme activities, however participating delegates will be required to pay for and book their own travel, accommodation, insurance etc.

Open to any business, this mission will give Scottish businesses the opportunity to explore a new market whilst at the same time showcasing what Scotland has to offer.
Why Ireland?
Ireland is an important trading partner for the UK underpinned by a longstanding history of robust trade. There is strong support for trade and foreign investment between the two nations, which has fostered strong growth, while UK companies have always received positive support from local partners - reinforcing the deep rooted economic and commercial ties.
In the market, Irish consumers and businesses are very familiar with UK goods and services which they see as high quality.
Ireland is a great place for UK businesses to start exporting for the first time, as business practices, laws, systems of finance and broader culture are similar to the UK. Ireland is the UK’s third largest export market, with a total of £57.6 billion pounds worth of exports recorded in Q3 of 2023.
Geographically, Ireland is in an ideal and easy to manage location, but also benefits from being one of the most open and globally connected countries, allowing entry to the largest markets in the world. As of 2021 the United States, Germany, Belgium and China are Ireland’s top export markets. This includes a wide range of manufactured products, including electrical machinery and apparatus, processed foods, chemical products, clothing and textiles, and beverages. Ireland is also among the world’s leading exporters of computer software. Given this strong position, Ireland gives UK businesses the opportunity to widen their offering into new markets.
Certainly, Dublin is the powerhouse of the economy as the capital city has attracted 50% of Ireland’s Foreign Direct Investment, and over the past two decades 48% jobs were created due to foreign investors. In the wake of Brexit, record numbers of foreign investors looking for an EU alternative to their London headquarters flocked to Dublin.

Why join the mission?
One month prior to the mission, RBS will host an Accelerator Pitch workshop. This will allow our delegates the chance to get to know each other, whilst perfecting their business pitch to be utilised during the networking session.
Marketing briefings: This interactive session will provide an overview of the opportunities in Ireland and provide a chance to ask any questions.
Business match-making and introductions to relevant stakeholders and partners.
There will be a networking event to facilitate further connections between Scotland and Ireland.
