Chamber Youth Academy

This newly funded pilot project has been created to help tackle youth unemployment in Ayrshire. Funding partners Access to Employment, Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce, South Ayrshire Council and STEP have developed a training package to build confidence in 16 to 19 year olds who have recently completed the 'Get Ready for Work Programme'.
Claire Baird, Business Liaison Co-ordinator at the Chamber explains, 'Our aim is to equip young people with the confidence and skills to make the move into employment as seamless as possible. Potential recruits are referred to us from the Workforce 18 team as the next step to honing their workplace skills. We would like to encourage employers who are looking to recruit a 16 to 19 year old, in the next year, to get in touch with us now. We hope that the Chamber Youth Academy will be the first port of call for businesses taking on new staff and will in some way make the transition for young people into gainful employment a positive experience.'
